about the designer and her dog
Kathryn is the floral designer and artist of York Flower Art. She has been practicing floral design since 2009, and has owned YFA since 2017.
Having traveled all over the world, Kathryn incorporates various influences and styles into her designs. She is extremely versatile, but mostly uses seasonal blooms with a variety of textures and natural elements. She combines form and function to design in an environmentally conscious manner.
Her love of the beach is apparent in her many of her floral designs. They are often modern, elegant designs with a hint of tropical. Her artwork also features coastal elements, she works mainly with mixed media glass assemblages. They include preserved flowers and shells with vibrant twist of the South Pacific.
Tilly is a silly Great Dane. She spends almost everyday in the flower shop, greeting customers and helping in her own ways. She specializes in digging holes in the backyard and then tracking mud onto the floor. Her favorite aspects of the job are head scratches and ear rubs from the daily visitors!
Many people ask if she enjoys being a model, and the answer is YES! She loves the attention she gets, and typically cooperates. She dreams of someday modeling for Doggy Parton dog apparel, but it's only for small dogs. She is currently waiting until the brand designs something that she can fit her chest into.
